IMG_1111[100]On Monday, March 4, DCDSB held its fourth annual Black Mental Health Day event to recognize the ongoing impact on mental health that results from experiences of anti-Black racism and to raise awareness of the specific mental health needs of Black communities. The event was a success thanks to our keynote speaker, Roxanne Francis and panelists Trudy Stone, Joy Lapps and Karrianne Edwards from the Women’s Multicultural Counselling Centre.

In recognition of Black History Month, the St. Mary Catholic Secondary School’s student-led Unity Committee hosted two special events to promote Black culture and excellence.

Tracy Barill, Director of EducationAt the Regular Board Meeting on February 26, 2024, Tracy Barill, Director of Education, announced her retirement after a 36-year career in Catholic education.
Director Barill began her career with DCDSB in 1988 as an Educational Assistant. Over the years, Ms. Barill went on to hold positions as a classroom teacher, Vice Principal, Principal and Superintendent of Education.
